NEET UG 2025: Know All About The Counselling Process
With the NEET UG 2025 results now announced, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is set to begin the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling process for 15 per cent of the available MBBS and BDS seats in government medical colleges. The remaining 85 per cent of the seats will be managed through separate counselling procedures conducted by individual states.
According to reports, the MCC usually begins the counselling process in the month of July.
The MCC will hold four main rounds of counselling:
– Round 1
– Round 2
– Mop-Up Round
– Stray Vacancy Round
If seats remain unfilled after these rounds, special counselling rounds may be conducted. Each phase of the process involves several steps: online registration, filling in preferred choices, seat allocation, announcement of results, and reporting to the allotted institute.
In 2024, candidates from the General category needed to score in the 50th percentile to qualify, while those from OBC, SC, and ST categories required a minimum of the 40th percentile. For General-PwD candidates, the qualifying benchmark was set at the 45th percentile.
These percentile scores are not fixed marks but are calculated concerning the top score achieved in the all-India merit list. As a result, the exact cut-off marks linked to these percentiles can differ from year to year.
