Responding to requests from several schools seeking additional time to upload marks, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the dates for practical examinations, projects, internal assessments, and internal grades for the year 2024. This decision offers schools a final chance to complete these assessments.

An official notification from the board referred to the circular dated 11.12.2023 regarding the Practical Examinations, Projects, Internal Assessments, and Internal Grades for 2024, and the subsequent uploading of marks on the portal. The notification highlights that despite repeated reminders, some schools have not completed the mentioned activities within the scheduled timeframe. These schools are now requesting the board to facilitate the uploading of marks for the said examinations and assessments.

Schools have been given the time till March 31, 2024, to upload the marks of their practical examination/project/internal assessment/internal grade etc.

The CBSE notification stated that in response to requests from schools that haven’t completed the mentioned activities, they will be granted one final chance to conduct the Practical Examinations, Projects, Internal Assessments, and Internal Grades for 2024. The deadline for completion and uploading of marks on the portal is set for the 31st of March 2024.

All remaining schools are urged to finish these tasks by the specified date. The notification emphasized that no further extensions will be provided beyond this deadline.

The practical exams were conducted from January 1 to February 15, 2024, for both classes 10 and 12 across the schools affiliated with CBSE.

CBSE to conduct trials of open-book exams for classes 9-12

Officials from CBSE have announced plans to conduct a pilot run of Open-Book Exams (OBE) in selected schools for classes 9 to 12 later this year. The idea was discussed during the Board’s meeting in December 2023. Officials clarified that this format won’t be used in class 10 and 12 board exams.

In open-book exams, students can use their notes and textbooks.

The pilot program will assess higher-order thinking skills. Designing and testing of the Open Book Tests will be completed by June 2024, with pilot testing in schools scheduled for November-December 2024.
